Your best shot

Let's face it, the AK isn't designed for accuracy, but I do appreciate hitting a target at a further distance. So far, I've been hovering around the 100-yard distance and haven't done anything above it. Anyone tried 200 and got good accuracy?

For me 300 is about it. And then I don't hit a target every time. It is the 7.62 x 39 round which is the limitation. Of course others can go out farther. I think the AK was designed as a short range, burst fire weapon.

Yeah, but that's the thing, going over that means you're epxecting it to do something it wasn't designed for

Sure, there is Rob Ski, Henry Chan and maybe a few others but let's face it, they are all great shots and exceptional. Even then they are fighting the physics of a bullet losing a great deal of energy and speed at distance.

And what about practicality? Are you really going to shoot a person at 500 yards? He would have to have been shooting at you or you have legal problems. But even then, that attacker is probably shooting with a weapon designed for that distance and not designed for close work where you would shine with your AK.

Yeah, that was my thought and I'm sure Blackbeard is in the same situation. Doable, maybe, but most likley not so I'd put that as one of those flexes you tell those who have no idea that you're full of bs.

OK, so we are not going to voluntarily try 500 yard shots expecting to make them. But how many times out of 20 would you expect to hit a slightly larger than man-sized target at 300 yards ? How about 200 yards?
