Steel vs paper targets

Maybe I’m addicted to that ping sound! haha. There’s nothing like the instant feedback of hitting steel.
I know paper is better for precision and zeroing, but steel just makes range day so much more fun.

Back on my ranch I was shooting at anything that would make a sound. Today I'm combining both, a paper target infront and the steel behind facing downward to keep the bullets in the ground. testing precision and avoiding stray bulets just make sure you leave some space between the paper and the steel

For me, the best thing about steel targets is the instant feedback they provide. I can see and hear when they’ve hit a steel target, and this is something that can't be done when using a paper target.

Let me guess, he thought the problem was with the bullets?

Of course, steel. You need paper for zeroing but there is nothing like instantly hearing your results.

Ages ago had a buddy fabricate a tray thingy that would collect the bullets after hitting the plate nice to have so that i dont have to pick them up. And yes paper in front of plate at an angle is the best combination and anyone that says diferent is wrong

Before setup a plate, which is what everyone should do my backstop were tires filled with sand dirt and everything else i thought would trap a bullet.

AmingAndrew how often do you replace the tires? I'm sure after a while they'll look like swiss cheese and the sand is all over the place
