I know this isn't the usual build or gear post, so apologies if it's too far off-topic. I thought this might be the right crowd to ask.
I recently came into possession of a genuine Bank of England £5 polymer banknote with the serial number:
AK47 474747
Just to clarify, the "21" refers to the issue year (2021). The serial itself is AK47 followed by 474747.
A note on the issue date: The Bank of England issued these £5 notes featuring Winston Churchill. The 2021 print run coincided with commemorative timing around Churchill's legacy. Some collectors note the coincidence of an "AK47" serial appearing on a Churchill note.
For anyone who isn't a banknote collector, the "AK" prefix (and especially "AK47") has become highly collectible because of the obvious connection to the rifle. What makes this specific note more interesting is the repeating "474747" pattern — the "47" repeats three times, tying directly into the AK47 theme.
I'm not here to list it for sale in this thread (I know the rules), but I wanted to ask the forum:
Would something like this be of interest to AK-47 enthusiasts or firearm collectors as a novelty or display piece?
I'm trying to figure out if I should list it in a specialist banknote auction, or if there's crossover interest from the gun community that might drive bidding.
