OK, wood looks cool. Especially wood which has been taken care of or wood which is plum or unusual. But polymer is durable. And even if you damage it, that piece of furniture can be replaced without replacing all the furniture (or refinishing it). So, for everyday shooting purposes I am going to have to favor polymer. Your argument is anticipated.

It depends if you ask me, especially when you consider that there are cheap options on both sides. For example, cheap polymer doesn't handle the heat as well as some high-quality wood. I get what you're saying and agree with you about the practical side of things, but for aesthetics, wood looks better even though it's a bit more complex to maintain
