Back in the day I would add 8 oz. of MMO about 50 miles before changing oil in my air cooled VW. You wouldn't believe the crap which comes out, black, black oil, full of carbon deposits. So, I tried using MMO as a solvent on my AK. WOW! Carbon just melts off and it is even better than CLP. Of course MMO is much, much cheaper. MMO has a component which fights rust and another for lubrication. I don't care so much about lubrication as I wipe it as dry as possible so as not to mix with the grease I use.
